Ustalost is Will Skarstad's solo project, who is also on this compilation with his band Yellow Eyes. Ustalost, 'fatigue' in Russian, shares common ground with Will's other projects, but very much stands on its own and is recognizable for a different way of crafting melody, use of rhythms and the balance between an abrasive and also quite gentle sound. I absolutely love this album and because it came out in late december '21, many people should put this on their end of the year lists for '22. It really deserves to be!

"'Stinging Stone' sees Ustalost use a more prominent and deliberate approach to choir vocals for the first time. One of the first tracks from the record to be written, it set a standard for the rest of to follow, and perhaps carved new pathways for future records to tread."
