Let's be honest, it's hard to find a balance when making symphonic, folky metal. You can go over-the-top easily, or fall into railway tracks that have been ridden by countless of musicians before you. But Wilderun from Boston are one of the best bands in the field who don't fall into any trap, hole, rails or pit - and they've risen above genres. They have released another true gem this year ('Epigone'). During one of the covid-lockdowns their tour got cancelled, and they decided to record an acoustic quarantaine version of 'Hope and Shadow' from their 2015 release 'Sleep At The Edge Of The Earth', which has been a go-to Youtube video for all fans. But it was never available for digital purchase - until now. The original was already amazing, but this version? Absolutely stunning. Such a treat!
