Brutus - Dust (from upcoming album Unison Life)

about

Don't let their name fool you, Brutus is Belgium's hope for heavy music. This trio around singing drummer Stefanie Mannaerts sounds sharp and intense, peppered with an emotional undercurrent. Their newest music is upping the ante on every aspect and hits me at least as hard as their most excellent debut Burst did in 2017. I can't wait for the whole thing: 'Unison Life' is out october 21.

This is what they said about it:

"'Dust’ was born out of the frustration of having friends with demands and expectations that were way too high. It’s a song about being at breaking point; pissed off about everything and everyone. ‘Dust’ is honest, direct and unfiltered. It’s a very special and personal song for us."

Brutus is:

Stefanie Mannaerts - drums, vocals
Peter Mulders - bass
Stijn Vanhoegaerden - guitars

lyrics

Lyrics:

I'll never change
And you're still the same
Always searching for more
Always digging to the core
I am so tired
Of everyone that's breathing down my neck

Maybe you shouldn't be like that

There is so little room
To take a step aside
All I wanna do
Is pretend that we're alike

Searching for flaws
Never good enough
Stop keeping this alive
But for now please be quiet for a sec

Eeeh/Eeh
Aah/Aah

I'll never change
And you're still exactly the same
Always searching for more
Always digging to the core
I am so tired
Of everyone that's breathing down my neck

Maybe you shouldn't be like that

What are you gonna do
When everything is done
To understand it more
Please be silent for just once

There is so little room
To understand my thoughts
What are you gonna do
Keep pretending that you're God

Ready
Are you ready
Why are you running
I am standing over here
